Whether you're a parent filming your child's games, a coach looking for high-quality game film, or a club administrator exploring recording solutions, you probably have questions about how BallerCam works. We've compiled the top 25 questions we hear most often and answered each one in detail. Check them out below!
GETTING STARTED
HOW EASY IS IT TO SET UP BALLERCAM BEFORE A GAME?
Mount your compatible iPhone in BallerCam, attach it to a stable tripod, and position it according to your sport’s setup guide. Open the app, select your team, and tap Film Game. Choose Live Stream or Record, then follow the setup prompts. Before starting, check the camera framing, playing-area boundaries, and recording settings. For outdoor filming, connect the cooling fan to the external battery and confirm that it is running. Better yet, when you schedule your game in advance, you can save yourself a few steps when it comes time to stream on gameday. See our video setup tutorials by sport here.
IS BALLERCAM EASY ENOUGH FOR PARENTS TO USE AT GAMES?
Absolutely. We built BallerCam specifically for parents who want quality game footage without the learning curve. If you can use your iPhone's camera, you can use BallerCam. The app guides you through positioning, handles the technical settings automatically, and makes filming and sharing simple.
ARE THERE ANY TUTORIALS FOR USING BALLERCAM WITH AN IPHONE?
Yes. Our app includes an interactive setup guide that walks you through your first recording. We also have video tutorials on our YouTube channel covering positioning tips, optimal settings for different sports, and how to get the best footage in various lighting conditions.
WHAT IPHONES ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THE BALLERCAM SYSTEM?
The filming iPhone must be an iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, or a supported newer model, with the appropriate BallerCam adapter.
A second device used for scorekeeping does not need to meet the filming-device requirement. An older supported iPhone or iPad can be used as long as it runs the BallerCam app and the signed-in user has Keep Score permission.
SPORTS COVERAGE AND COMPATIBILITY
CAN BALLERCAM CAPTURE THE FULL BASKETBALL COURT ACTION?
Yes. Using your iPhone's lens plus the built-in BallerCam 180-degree lens, BallerCam captures the entire court from a single position at or near mid-court, although try not to go further than the free-throw line. In other words, the BallerCam captures the entire court end-to-end, and we process the video so it appears the camera is panning when it's actually stationary. No need to pan or follow the ball manually.
IS BALLERCAM SUITABLE FOR RECORDING VOLLEYBALL MATCHES?
BallerCam works excellently for volleyball. We recommend positioning the camera on the sideline, on one side of the net, for the best capture, but the baseline will work too; it just won't pan back and forth with the action.
DOES BALLERCAM WORK FOR SPORTS LIKE LACROSSE OR HOCKEY?
Yes. BallerCam supports AI-powered filming for Basketball, Soccer, Futsal, Volleyball, Flag Football/7v7, Lacrosse, and Ice Hockey.
Available scoring, statistics, and highlight features vary by sport. Volleyball supports sideline tracking and a static baseline filming setup. Flag Football/7v7 support should not be interpreted as support for tackle football.
Pickleball is also supported in the Philippines and India using baseline filming, without AI auto-panning.
CAN BALLERCAM BE USED BY YOUTH LEAGUES AND SMALL CLUBS?
Yes. We know that many youth leagues and small clubs can't afford $10,000+ camera systems or dedicated videographers, so BallerCam gives these organizations professional-quality recording using equipment they already own—their phones. Many leagues have multiple parents recording games simultaneously for different teams.
FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGY
CAN BALLERCAM TRACK INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS AUTOMATICALLY?
BallerCam’s AI camera tracking follows the game action. Basketball AI Plays separately detects supported shot events and connects them to video clips for review.
Player attribution links a play to an athlete. Depending on the workflow and processing status, player information may become available automatically or require manual assignment. Review team and player assignments before sharing or using the results for analysis. AI Plays may miss or misclassify events and should not be treated as a complete official box score.
CAN BALLERCAM AUTOMATICALLY CREATE HIGHLIGHT REELS DURING A MATCH?
BallerCam can automatically create clips from supported scoring events entered during a game. You can also tap Mark Moment to save other important plays, including those that do not change the score.
For supported Basketball games, AI Plays provides another way to find detected shot events after the game. Clips and highlight reels serve different purposes: a clip captures an individual play, while a reel combines selected clips. Review the available clips and use BallerCam’s highlight tools to assemble the moments you want to share.
Availability depends on the sport, recording, and processing status.
CAN BALLERCAM FOOTAGE BE EDITED AFTER RECORDING?
Yes. You can edit supported clips, update player and play-type information, and correct supported scoring events.
Eligible Creators with an active BallerCam plan, including Base, can also trim the beginning or end of a published replay or remove sections from the middle. You can preview, undo, publish, and restore replay edits. These changes do not alter the original recording or existing clips.
After a Basketball game’s HD recording has been uploaded and processed, Basketball Tag Stats is available in the app for tagging and editing replay events in portrait or landscape.
HOW DOES BALLERCAM'S SHARING FEATURE WORK FOR FAMILIES?
You can share game and clip links with players, coaches, friends, and family. A non-private livestream can be watched through its direct link without creating a BallerCam account.
Watching replays and clips and receiving notifications require a free BallerCam account. Access also depends on the content’s privacy settings. Sharing a link does not override those settings.
If you filmed using Record Only, upload the recording before other viewers can watch it.
CAN FANS WATCH LIVE STREAMS FROM BALLERCAM REMOTELY?
Yes. Family and fans can watch BallerCam livestreams remotely through a desktop or mobile browser or the BallerCam iOS app. Share the game’s direct link so viewers can find the correct livestream. A non-private livestream can be watched through its direct link without creating an account; private content remains subject to its access settings.
COMPARISONS WITH OTHER PLATFORMS
WHAT MAKES BALLERCAM DIFFERENT FROM PIXELLOT FOR AMATEUR SPORTS TEAMS?
BallerCam uses a compatible iPhone with BallerCam hardware to film supported sports, livestream games, and create shareable clips. Its included Base Plan provides core features and 20 hours of total cloud storage without a paid subscription.
When comparing systems, consider the complete hardware cost, storage allowance, subscription requirements, supported sports, and features your team needs. Check each provider’s current offering before purchasing.
HOW DOES BALLERCAM'S AI TRACKING WORK COMPARED TO SPIIDEO?
BallerCam uses a compatible iPhone and a wide-angle lens to capture the playing area, then applies AI-powered tracking for supported sports.
Compare the specific Spiideo product with BallerCam based on installation requirements, portability, supported sports, streaming, storage, and analysis tools. Different products and plans can have different capabilities.
HOW DOES BALLERCAM'S ULTRA-WIDE LENS COMPARE TO VEO'S CAMERA?
BallerCam combines a compatible iPhone with its wide-angle lens to capture the playing area and provide AI-powered tracking for supported sports.
When comparing BallerCam with Veo, consider camera placement, filming conditions, replay tools, streaming, storage, and total ownership cost. Video quality depends on the equipment and recording conditions.

CAN BALLERCAM FOOTAGE BE INTEGRATED WITH HUDL FOR COACHING ANALYSIS?
You can download supported BallerCam recordings and upload the video file to another analysis platform, subject to that platform’s file and filming-angle requirements.
This is a manual export-and-upload workflow. Before filming for a specific analysis service, check its current requirements, particularly the required camera position for volleyball.
CAN COACHES USE BALLERCAM FOR PERFORMANCE REVIEW LIKE THEY DO WITH HUDL?
Yes. Coaches can use BallerCam footage to review player positioning, team shape, decision-making, and individual plays.
After HD upload and processing, Explore View lets you control the replay frame, while Panoramic View provides a wider view of the playing area. Supported scoring and tagging workflows connect events with player statistics and clips.
Basketball also supports in-app Tag Stats after HD upload and downloadable box scores. Available analysis tools vary by sport.
CAN BALLERCAM BE USED FOR TALENT SCOUTING PURPOSES?
Definitely. BallerCam footage is more than sufficient for creating recruiting clips and sharing with scouts or college coaches. The full-court/field view actually helps evaluators see how players move off-ball, their positioning, and game awareness—things often missed in tighter highlight clips.
IS BALLERCAM SUITABLE FOR PROFESSIONAL-GRADE STREAMING AT A LOW COST?
For youth sports, club matches, and amateur leagues, BallerCam delivers excellent streaming quality. It's not designed to replace broadcast production for professional leagues, but for organizations that simply need reliable streaming for their community—schools, youth leagues, recreational leagues—BallerCam provides professional-looking results at a consumer price point.
STORAGE, PRICING, AND SECURITY
DOES BALLERCAM OFFER CLOUD STORAGE FOR RECORDED GAMES?
Yes. Uploading sends the local recording from the filming iPhone to BallerCam Cloud for processing and replay access.
The Base Plan includes 20 hours of total cloud storage. This is a total storage allowance, not a monthly allowance. Other plans provide additional capacity.
Wait until the upload completes successfully before deleting a local recording you still need. Footage that exists only on the iPhone has not yet been backed up to BallerCam Cloud.
WHAT ARE THE STORAGE OPTIONS FOR BALLERCAM FOOTAGE?
BallerCam records locally on the filming iPhone. You can upload recordings to BallerCam Cloud and download supported videos for your own archive.
Local iPhone storage and BallerCam Cloud storage are separate. Uploading makes Record Only games available to other viewers and enables supported HD replay features after processing.
If you want an additional copy in a service such as iCloud Drive or Google Drive, download the video and save it there separately.
DOES BALLERCAM REQUIRE A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION?
A paid subscription is not required to use BallerCam’s core features. The included Base Plan provides 20 hours of total cloud storage.
Starter provides 100 hours of total cloud storage, while Pro provides 250 hours and includes RTMP streaming and custom Logo Overlay features. Filming is subject to fair use and available storage.
