Great news—the BallerCam App now supports starting games and scoring from a second device for soccer! Plus, a whole new way for coaches, parents, and fans to capture real-time moments.
STARTING GAMES FROM A SECOND DEVICE
For scheduled games, not only do you get helpful reminders about your upcoming game, but now, when you set up your BallerCam to film with your primary device, you will see the option to “start later from a second device.” This allows the game to be started remotely using another iOS device, as long as it is logged into the BallerCam App with an account that has filming permissions (defaulted to "on" for team staff). Whether you’re using your own account login or the account of another staff member or parent who has been approved, you can control it all from that phone.
Once you're logged in, starting the match is straightforward. When you are logged in on your second device, you should see your current game on the team home screen. Simply tap “Start Game.”
SCORING GAMES FROM A SECOND DEVICE
Previously, you could only score a soccer game from your primary device, which was very likely inaccessible during filming. Now, for scheduled or live games, the same basic process as starting a game applies. From a second iOS device, simply log in to an account that has scoring privileges (default for team staff and parents) so that you can score while at the game.
From your team’s home screen, you’ll now see your game and the option to “Keep Score.” Upon tapping the “Keep Score” button, you can score the match in real time while the BallerCam continues filming uninterrupted from its elevated position.
PLAYER TAGGING AND SCORING PLAYS
Scoring from a second device also supports player tagging, which means you can finally keep better stats for your players. For example, goals and assists can be assigned to specific players, provided your roster has been added in advance. Maintaining a complete roster enables fans and family members to favorite players and receive alerts when those players are involved in goals or other tracked milestones.
Tagging players to plays powers Scoring Plays. When a goal is logged, for example, BallerCam auto-generates a clip tied to that goal and that player. These Scoring Plays can always be reviewed, edited, and shared later, too.
PORTRAIT MODE CLIPS
Another great automated clip feature we just launched is called portrait clips. By default, all of our automated highlight clips are processed in landscape mode (video is oriented horizontally), which makes reviewing and editing your clips easy. However, in some cases, you may want to share your clips with others on social media, in which case portrait mode (vertical orientation) is preferred.
With that in mind, when your game has ended, BallerCam will now automatically process your Scoring Plays in HD landscape and portrait orientation. That way, when you share your athlete's game-winning goal on Instagram you'll have the proper format to post right away. Keep in mind that for this processing to occur, you will need to keep your phone and app open while the processing takes place, or when it’s available after HD Upload.
CAPTURING MOMENTS IN REAL TIME
In addition to scoring, this update introduces a new “Moments” feature. From the second device, you can tap the Moments button during live play to timestamp key actions as they happen. Each press saves a clip to your “Moments” log, allowing you to review important plays after the game.
Moments can be auto-tagged to your Favorite Player, or you can choose to later tag with players and play types. Moments is an easy way to quickly save key plays during the game without missing the action on the field. And coming soon, we'll be opening up access to Moments so that anyone on the team can create Moments—not just scorekeepers.
Together, second-device starting, scoring, and Moments give soccer teams more control over how games are tracked and remembered, without interfering with filming or missing live action.
